Wayne's Greg Olsen Will Report To Panthers' Training Camp, Report Says

Olsen was considering holding out due to his dissatisfaction with his contract, which he has two years left on.

WAYNE, NJ — Greg Olsen will report to Carolina Panthers' training camp Tuesday after rumors he might holdout because he is dissatisfied with his contract, according to a report.

The Charlotte Observer reported that Olsen, 32, was seeking a contract on par with the league's top tight ends. He has two years left that will pay him $6.5 million annually this season and next season.

Olsen is the only tight end in NFL history to have three 1,000-yard receiving seasons. He was named a Pro-Bowler in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He is a three-year offensive captain and a community leader.

He founded Receptions for Research: The Greg Olsen Foundation in 2009 after his mother Sue was diagnosed with, and survived, breast cancer.

The foundation's Receiving Hope program funds cancer research, support and education initiatives. He also hosts an annual charity kickball game in Chicago in support of the foundation.

In early 2013, Olsen and his wife Kara founded the HEARTest Yard Fund. The family created the foundation after his son T.J. was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect in utero. He had four open-heart surgeries before he turned 2.

Since its inception, the fund has distributed nearly $1.25 million to support families of babies affected by congenital heart disease.
