Attempted Luring Incident In West Windsor Under Investigation: PD

A 20-year-old man attempted to lure an 11-year-old boy as the boy walked home from school this week, police said.

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — West Windsor police are investigating an attempted luring in which a 20-year-old man approached an 11-year-old boy Thursday afternoon.

The boy, a student in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Public School District, was dropped off by a late bus in The Mews/The Estates in Princeton Junction at about 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 10 when he was approached by the man while walking home, police said Sunday night.

The man asked him, “do you want any cards?” as he sat in a blue 4-door sedan with the driver’s side window down, according to the West Windsor Police Department. The boy ignored the man and went home. He told his father on Saturday, and the incident was reported on Sunday, police said.

The man is described as an African American man in his 20s, clean shaven with an afro hairstyle. His car was described as “weird.”

“As with any incident involving a possible luring of a child, the WWPD has protocols and proactive measures in place,” police said. “Chief Garofalo, Class III Division, Detective Bureau, Patrol Division, Traffic Bureau, and our K9 Units are alerted of the incident. In addition, the WWPD Administration has been in direct contact with the WW-P School District’s Administration of Dr. Aderhold. Lastly, with incidents such as these, the timing of the reporting is a huge factor. It gives us a greater opportunity to respond with all of our resources (ie Drones, K9 Units, Patrol Units, etc.) in real-time.”
