This is a recent picture of the Clarksville Road bridge in West Windsor, which crosses above train tracks for the Amtrak NE Corridor trains and NJ Transit trains running between Trenton and Princeton Junction. As you can see, it is quite literally falling apart. The bridge was shut down on November 2nd after an inspection by NJ DOT. Over 3 months have gone by, and virtually no progress has been made.
We ask that Governor Sherrill declare a state of emergency, so that the bridge gets the attention it needs.

Key points - The bridge outage impacts:
1) increased traffic and air pollution with 15,000 vehicles per day now jamming other roads
2) significantly increased response times for fire/police/ambulance due to detours, can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency
3) local mom-and-pop businesses that may not survive
4) the safety of Amtrak and NJ Transit trains traveling under a rotting and crumbling structure, which is a disaster waiting to happen.
A State of Emergency declaration can (courtesy of Councilwoman Andrea Mandel):
1) eliminate red tape
2) elevate the issue to get greater urgency from Amtrak
3) provide aid to local businesses
4) opens the possibility of federal disaster relief.
In 2025, Governor Murphy declared a state of emergency to fix to Interstate-80, and the result was quick action, and assistance to local businesses.
