New South Jersey Wawa Opens Thursday With Giveaway, First Responder Contest

Wawa opens its doors in Franklinville on Thursday and is giving away t-shirts, as well as honoring employees and first responders.

FRANKLINVILLE, NJ — The newest Wawa in South Jersey opens on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, t-shirt giveaway, and hoagie-building competition for first responders.

This new location is at 2515 Delsea Drive in Franklinville, and opens Dec. 15. Jennifer Bates will be the general manager and lead about 50 associates, Wawa said. It features the traditional Wawa fare: hoagies, burgers, coffee, hot sandwiches, beverages, snacks, and much more as well as a pump station for gasoline.

The new store opens at 8 a.m., with a grand opening celebration and outdoor ribbon-cutting at 9. The first 100 customers who walk through the door will get a limited-edition Wawa “Goose Vibes Only" t-shirt while supplies last.

Wawa mascot Wally Goose will be there for the ribbon-cutting amid confetti and fanfare, the company said. There is a Facebook event for the grand opening here.

This is the final of 40 Wawa stores that the company will open in 2022, according to a news release.

Wawa will also recognize local first responders with its signature Hoagies for Heroes hoagie-building competition. First responders from Franklin Township Police and the Franklinville Fire Department will compete to see who can make the most hoagies in three minutes. Wawa will present checks for $1,000 to each department’s charity of choice.

During each grand opening, Wawa will have a special Day Brightener ceremony which will include:

  • Associate Day Brighteners: Wawa will recognize associates who go above and beyond in creating positive moments for customers
  • Community Day Brighteners: Wawa will celebrate a local individual or organization making a bright impact in the community
  • Local Hero Day Brighteners: Wawa will acknowledge local everyday heroes who brighten the community through protecting and serving and host a signature Hoagies for Heroes acknowledgement and check presentation to each department’s charity
