Security Threat Against High School Football Game In South Jersey Prompts Postponement
The threat was unconfirmed, police said. But the match occurred the next day with an increased law-enforcement presence.
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ — An unconfirmed security threat prompted officials to postpone a high school football playoff match in South Jersey.
Delsea Regional High School and Camden High School were scheduled to face off Friday night. But the Franklin Township Police Department received unconfirmed information regarding a potential threat set to occur during the Group 3 state semifinal.
"The incident was immediately investigated by detectives and the origin of the threat is undetermined at this time," the police agency said Friday afternoon. "After speaking with school administration and with the utmost emphasis on the safety and security of the players, coaches, staff and spectators; the decision has been made to postpone tonight’s football game."

The game was pushed to Saturday morning at Delsea. During the match, police increased patrols around the campus and used a metal-detecting wand on all fans entering the game.
Delsea defeated Camden, 28-12. The Crusaders will face West Essex High School at 5 p.m. Sunday in the state championship.
