Woman Arrested After Hit-And-Run Crash In Gloucester County: Authorities

Her car's crash detection system alerted officials.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A woman wanted for hitting a man with her car in February was arrested on Tuesday, the Washington Township Police Department said.

Kushi Singh, of Williamstown, turned herself in and was charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious bodily injury and third-degree endangering an injured victim.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 15, a crash detection notification from a Mercedes-Benz alerted dispatch to a collision along Route 42 South (Black Horse Pike) in the area of Greentree Road.

Singh told the crash detection operator that she may have hit something and then left the scene.

Officers found a man lying in the road with severe injuries. He was taken to Jefferson Washington Township Hospital before being flown to Cooper University Hospital for further treatment.

The man was walking southbound along the shoulder at the time of the crash.

Through collaboration with the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, officials were able to identify the vehicle that hit the man as a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon SUV.

Following her arrest, Singh was processed and released pending further court actions.
