1 Killed In Union Township House Fire
Firefighters found the 74-year-old man in the kitchen, which was also where the fire originated on Tuesday night, said Union Fire Chief.
UNION, NJ — One man was killed after a fire burned through the kitchen of a Union Township home on Tuesday night.
Just before 6 p.m., Union Township Fire was dispatched to smoke coming from the windows of a home on Julian Terrace.
Firefighters arrived in under four minutes and "the fire was quickly extinguished by an aggressive interior attack," said Union Township Fire Chief Gregory B. Ricciardi.

A search of the home found the 74-year-old man dead in the kitchen, which was also the room where the fire started, said Ricciardi.
Firefighters also extinguished a fire that extended into the second-floor knee wall.

Union County Fire Investigators, along with the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal, conducted a full investigation.
"They had a couple of possibilities that couldn’t be ruled out, but no foul play was suspected at this time," said Ricciardi.
The man's body was removed by the State Medical Examiner.
Union County Mutual Aid supplied coverage for Union Township Fire while they operated at the fire.
