2 Hospitalized After Overturned Car Crash On Route 22
A Somerset driver made an abrupt lane change to avoid a crash and ended up crashing into a Bridgewater driver in Mountainside, said police.

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — Two drivers are hospitalized following an overturned car crash on Route 22 in Mountainside on Monday.
On March 25 at around 4:30 p.m., Mountainside Police went to the intersection of Route 22 and Lawrence Avenue for a motor vehicle accident with injuries and an overturned vehicle.
Police found that a 2012 Honda being driven by a 69-year-old Somerset woman made an abrupt lane change while in the westbound fast lane to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of her, said Mountainside Police Chief Joseph Giannuzzi.

In doing so the Somerset woman hit a 2024 Acura being driven by a 46-year-old Bridgewater woman causing the Honda to overturn, said Giannuzzi.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital for an evaluation and minor injuries.

Police Officer Eric Pastore issued two motor vehicle summons to the operator of the Honda which made the unsafe lane change and overturned.
Route 22 had one lane closed for about one hour during the investigation and removal of the damaged vehicles.
