2 Wanted For Carjacking At Union County Business

CRANFORD, NJ — Two men are wanted for a carjacking at a Cranford business on Saturday night.

On Sept. 23 at around 9:44 p.m., police were called to a business on the 300 block of North Avenue East on the report of a carjacking.

According to the victim, while changing a flat tire on their Mercedes SUV, they were approached by two dark-skinned black or Hispanic men in a gray Porsche, said Cranford Police Captain Matthew Nazzaro.

The suspects got out of the Porsche and, after a brief struggle and threat to the victim's safety, stole the Mercedes, said Nazzaro.

They then drove onto the Garden State Parkway entrance ramp and immediately became disabled as a result of having a flat tire. The suspects fled in the Porsche onto the Garden State Parkway.

"Residents are encouraged to be vigilant and have a heightened situational awareness as the frequency of violent crimes involving automobile thefts has increased in recent months," said Nazzaro.
