3 DWI Arrests, Fraud, Attempted Home Burglary Reported In Westfield

The Westfield Police released its blotter from Dec. 24 to Dec. 30, 2023.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Three DWI arrests, an attempted burglary, fraud and an outstanding traffic arrest were reported in Westfield.

Westfield Police Blotter:

On Dec. 24 at 12:08 a.m.: Westfield Police Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and found the driver to have an outstanding traffic warrant out of East Brunswick Municipal Court in the amount of $2,500.00. The driver, Darryl Kennedy, 26, Edison, was turned over to the East Brunswick Police Department.

On Dec. 24 at 3:50 a.m.: A resident on the 900 block of Wallberg Avenue reported a dark-colored minivan pulled in front of their residence and was shining a flashlight on to their house. The van then left the area.

On Dec. 26 at 4:05 p.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle accident in the 1600 block of Central Ave. area and an investigation, Paul Wiese, 64, Scotch Plains, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Wiese was released to a sober adult after processing. Wiese was issued motor vehicle summons and was given a future court date to address the matter.

On Dec. 27 at 1:24 a.m.: Tix Chach Mariano, 35, Plainfield, was arrested for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on West North Avenue at the intersection with Charles Street. He was processed and released to a sober adult with a pending Westfield Municipal Court date.

On Dec. 29 at 3:42 a.m.: A 300 block of Orenda Cir. resident reported that a suspect walked up their driveway and attempted to gain entry into their home utilizing a crowbar. When the suspect was unsuccessful, they left the area.

On Dec. 29 at 2:50 a.m.: A 200 block of Hyslip Ave. resident reported that a credit account was fraudulently attempted to be open in their name but was unsuccessful. The resident suffered no monetary loss.

On Dec. 30 at 4:36 p.m.: Officers Jaramillo and Testa responded in the area of East Broad Street and Wychwood Road on a report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash. Upon further investigation, officers placed the driver of one of the vehicles Jack Mackin, 19, Westfield, under arrest for driving while intoxicated and possession of a false government document. Mackin was processed and released on a summons.
