$30K Worth Of Valuables Stolen From Westfield Home

An attempted car burglary, DWI arrest, and a counterfeit bill were also reported in Westfield, according to the police blotter.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A home burglary where more than $30,000 worth of valuables were stolen, an attempted car burglary, a DWI arrest and a counterfeit bill were reported in the latest police blotter.

Westfield Police Blotter – July 28 to Aug. 3:

On July 28 at 12:30 a.m.: A resident of the 500 block of Benson Place reported a burglary and theft incident that occurred at an unknown time between July 8 and July 28. According to the resident, someone gained entry into her home through the rear window. Once inside the house, suspect(s) ransacked the house and stole around $30,800 worth of residents' valuables.

On July 29 at 11:24 a.m.: A resident of the 500 block of Dudley Court was a victim of an attempted motor vehicle burglary. Unknown actors drove up to a home and one of the actors tried to gain entry to residents' vehicle which was parked in the driveway. Unable to gain entry to residents' vehicle, the actor returned to the getaway vehicle waiting on the street and fled the area.

On Aug. 1 at 5:25 p.m.: A local business in the 100 block of E. Broad Street reported that an unknown male suspect used a counterfeit $50 bill to make a small purchase, at which time an employee of the business gave the suspect real currency back as change. The business suffered a loss of $45 as a result of this incident. The suspect is described as a middle-aged black male, wearing a blue surgical mask, black T-shirt and yellow athletic shorts.

On Aug. 1 at 11:37 p.m.: Officer Donovan conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Carleton Road and Ross Place. Pursuant to an investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Klara Zdenkova, 48, of Westfield, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Zdenkova was then taken to Westfield Police Headquarters where she was processed and released to a sober adult.
