Contemporary Worship Leader Hired at Presbyterian Church in Westfield

Westfield - Kevin Wilkin has been hired by the Presbyterian Church in Westfield (PCW) to lead the newly formed contemporary worship services, Wired4Worship, that will begin Sunday mornings mid - October.

A musician who specializes in vocals, keyboards, guitar and songwriting, Mr. Wilkin has been described as “an expert in technology, worship media as well as a leader and vision capturer.” He earned a B.A. in Music Composition from the College of Wooster, Ohio.  After college, he attended the Institute of Audio Research in NYC.

“Truthfully I never saw church music director as a career path,” he said, “because I was working for record labels in recording studios and playing in clubs.” He admits to ignoring what he refers to as “God’s calling” for years, but after serving as a music director in a number of churches, he recognized his affinity to church music. 

Currently Mr. Wilkin is pursuing a degree at the Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, NJ.

His objective in taking on the task of helping build this new ministry, Wired 4 Worship, at the Presbyterian Church is very specific.  “What attracted me to this mission is a passion to make a place in church for people who haven’t even thought about belonging to a church culture.”

What he especially feels the church experience needs right now is authenticity. “Not everyone worships in the same way. We want to reach people out there who are not into mainline church.”
