2nd Westfield High School Lockdown, Shelter In Place Lifted
This was the second emergency lockdown issued at Westfield High School on Wednesday.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A second emergency lockdown has been lifted at Westfield High School on Wednesday and cleared by law enforcement, said the district.
Normal operations have resumed. Shelter-in-place protocols at all other Westfield schools in the district have been lifted as well.
At around 11:15 a.m., the district's online security monitoring system alerted them to a second potential threat at the high school.

In response, law enforcement acted quickly, and the high school entered an emergency lockdown. All other schools in the district were placed on a shelter-in-place as a precautionary measure.
"The safety and security of our students, staff, and community remain our highest priority. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation throughout this process. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your building principal," wrote the district.

The high school was also previously placed in a lockdown at 8 a.m. on Wednesday after the Westfield Police Department notified the high school of a possible threat made on social media against the building, said Acting Principal Bill Loughran in a letter to the community. That lockdown was previously lifted and classes had resumed as of 9:20 a.m.
