Armed Robber Accused Of Raping 2 Women At Union County Motels: Prosecutor

Both female victims reported being sexually assaulted and robbed by an armed intruder, said police.

ELIZABETH, NJ - An East Orange man has been arrested in connection with the rape and robbery of two women in Elizabeth, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca and Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves announced Wednesday.

Jameel Alston, 27, has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of third degree terroristic threats, and additional weapons charges.

The first incident happened on Aug. 28, at the Motel 6, where a female victim reported being sexually assaulted and robbed by an armed intruder, said officials.

A second incident, an armed robbery of a female victim, took place shortly after at the Ritz Motel, said authorities.

During both incidents, Alston was driving a white 2021 Hyundai Kona.

Alston was arrested on Sept. 9 in Irvington with the help of US Marshalls and Union County Sheriff’s Department and is currently being held in the Essex County Jail pending his first appearance hearing on Sept. 13.
