Bomb Threat At Target In Union County Prompts Evacuation

Authorities in multiple states, including Wisconsin and North Carolina, have said the threats appear to be part of a nationwide hoax.

CLARK, NJ — Target in Clark has reopened Tuesday afternoon after a bomb threat prompted an evacuation.

On Aug. 29 at around 11 a.m., Clark Police received a report alleging that an explosive device was planted inside of the Target store at 45 Central Ave., police said in a release.

Police evacuated the store immediately and the store was searched with the help of canine units from both the Union County and Essex County Sheriff's Offices.

The Union County Police Department and Clark Fire Department was also called to the store. The fire department had two engines and one ladder truck on the scene, said Clark Fire Chief Frank Cerasa.

The store was reopened and the area was cleared at 1 p.m.

"During the course of the investigation, it was determined that there were similar calls to several Target stores around the state," said police.
