“The air is light. It is around us and above us. Are your thoughts light, too? Are they lighter than your feet? …or your hips? If the air was closer to the ground, then we should start to crawl so that we can breathe very well.”
-Master Johwa, Saturday Spirituality Workshop, Westfield, NJ
As I sit in meditation and hear the message delivered, I begin to feel like giggling. I smile in response to comparing the weight of my feet and hips to that of my thoughts. The image I’ve created in my mind of all of us crawling around seems quite unnatural to me and very humorous. I feel like I have been reprimanded for taking things too seriously but at the same time, I feel very thankful for the reminder that my thoughts should be light. The poignant cue also delivered an unexpected playful and easy mood. I am filled with hope again and I start to wonder why it was missing at all. If not for this workshop, I would not have realized its absence. How long would I go without it?
