UPDATE: Wilson Elementary School Evacuated

Students were able to go back into Wilson Elementary School after being evacuated due to the smell of gas odor in the building, police say

Westfield, NJ -- Students at Wilson Elementary School are being let back in after they were evacuated due to the smell of a gas odor in the building, Westfield Police Chief David C. Wayman reported through Nixle.

The school was evacuated around 3:15 p.m. today and re-populated shortly after at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

“All are safe at this time. There is no cause for concern,” Wayman stated.

Westfield Police and Fire Departments were deployed to the scene.

The school at 301 Linden Avenue teaches children in grades one through five.
