Burglar Climbs Through 2nd Floor Window With Westfield Homeowner Inside: Police
Westfield Police also reported a DWI arrest, theft, a suspicious person, and more in the latest blotter.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A Westfield homeowner heard a noise while lying in bed and got up to find a man inside the home, said polic.
On Sept. 21 at 8:33 p.m., a Tamaques Way resident reported a residential burglary.
The victim said while lying in bed he heard someone inside the home. He left his bedroom and saw a man in the hallway of his home, said Westfield Police.

The suspect then ran from inside the home using a second-floor window.
The victim was not able to provide further description of the suspect.

Police said the suspect or suspects got inside the home by climbing through an unsecured second-floor window.
At this time, no items were reported stolen.

On Sept. 7 at 9:41 a.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop at Springfield Avenue and Cardinal Drive, Andre Jones, 32, Plainfield, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction. Jones was released on scene on his own recognizance. Jones was given a future court date to address the matter.
On Sept. 17 at 2:49 p.m.: A 600 block of Clark Street resident reports that property that was left outside their residence was damaged overnight. The victim estimates the cost to replace the item damaged is $4. The victim wanted to report the damage as they found it suspicious.
On Sept. 19 at 8 a.m.: A resident of the 700 block of East Broad Street reports a theft of portable black metal stairs between Sept. 17 and 19. The stairs were found to be missing on Sept. 19 and the approximate value of them is $400. The stairs were located outside the premise prior to being stolen.
On Sept. 19 at 8:14 p.m.: A resident in the area reported they observed an unknown suspect described as a male, white or Hispanic, about 5’11” with short hair, wearing blue jeans and a white shirt making attempts to gain entry into a local house of worship in the 200 block of Cowperthwaite Place area. The caller stated the subject was unsuccessful and quickly fled in a maroon-colored vehicle. A search of the premises and area yielded negative results.
On Sept. 20 at 12:19 p.m.: Oscar Chipantiza, 38, Plainfield and Alan Chipantiza, 24, Plainfield were placed under arrest for multiple outstanding traffic warrants after being stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Both were taken to Westfield Police Department where they were processed. Chipantiza was released on his own recognizance for Plainfield Municipal Court's warrant in the amount of $2,500 and Westfield Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500. He was released on full bail amount for Westfield Municipal Warrant in the amount of $1,000 with a new court date pending. Chipantiza was released on his own recognizance for Middlesex Boro warrant in the amount of $500.
On Sept. 22 at 3:52 p.m.: A 45-year-old woman from Westfield was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated on the 700 block of Westfield Avenue. She was processed and released to a sober adult with a pending court date.
