A bank robbery suspect was taken into custody on Friday after a car chase through Middlesex and Union Counties that lasted almost 20 minutes.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey:
The suspect, whose name is being withheld pending the formal filing of charges, is being held at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, were he is being treated for injuries he sustained when he crashed his vehicle following the 15- to 20-minute pursuit.

Police were alerted at 10:36 a.m. today [Friday, August 1] to the robbery at Investors Savings Bank on Amboy Avenue in Edison.
Police followed the suspect, who was fleeing in a green minivan on Woodbridge Avenue. He turned onto the New Jersey Turpike, headed north and took Exit 13 in Elizabeth to Routes 1& 9 when the vehicle struck a concrete median divider and stopped.

Four Edison patrol cars participated in the pursuit and along the way were assisted by the New Jersey State Police, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police, the Elizabeth Police Department and the Newark Police Department.
None of the officers was injured.
In addition, the FBI is assisting the Edison Police at the crime scene.
The investigation is active and is continuing.
