Car Stolen, DWI Arrest, Fraud Reported In Westfield
Westfield Police released its blotter for the past week.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A stolen car, stolen license plate, fraud, and a DWI arrest were among the incidents reported recently in Westfield.
Westfield Police Blotter from Sept. 1 to 7:
On Sept. 1 at 7:34 a.m.: A resident of the 200 block of Baker Avenue reported his motor vehicle was stolen overnight. The resident reported he last saw his motor vehicle parked in his driveway the night prior. The stolen motor vehicle is described as a 2024 BMW sedan valued at around $80,000.

On Sept. 1 at 1:54 p.m.: A resident of the 500 block of Cumberland Street reported his rear license plate was stolen off his motor vehicle. The vehicle in question was parked unoccupied in the above-mentioned area overnight.
On Sept. 1 at 11:39 p.m.: Officer Fourre and Officer Marlow conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of West North Avenue and Clark Street. After speaking to the driver of the vehicle, Efren Chillomena, 47, Brooklyn, NY, they conducted a further investigation resulting in the driver being arrested for driving while intoxicated. Chillomena was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and released to a sober adult.

On Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.: A resident of the 100 block of Cambridge Road reported that he received a letter from a credit agency stating he had a collection for an outstanding AT&T mobile account for $871.66 for nonpayment. The resident states this is a fraudulent account set up by an unknown actor.
On Sept. 5 at 8:45 a.m.: Omar S. Henry, 38, East Orange, was arrested on the strength of two outstanding warrants from both the Newark and Mountainside Municipal Courts pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Rahway Avenue and Grove Street. He was later released R.O.R. with new court dates pending.
On Sept. 5 at 8:56 a.m.: A business owner from the 200 block of West South Avenue reported that overnight someone smashed a window to a van owned by the business.
On Sept. 5 at 9:55 a.m.: A resident of Settlers Lane reported that an unknown person tried to create fraudulent accounts using their identity for several gambling websites. The actor created accounts for Draftkings and Bet365. There was no monetary loss.
On Sept. 6 at 12:09 p.m.: A resident reported that her identity was stolen, and that the actor(s) opened unauthorized credit card accounts in her name. After opening fraudulent credit card accounts, actor(s) used the accounts to make purchases for $3,063. After learning of the fraudulent activity, the victim contacted the credit card companies and closed the accounts.
