The program allows the youth an opportunity to develop an understanding of the role of the police officer in the community.

Students will undergo physical training at the start of each day, drill training, instruction in motor vehicle stops, criminal investigation techniques, crime scene, first aid, evidence recovery, and patrol practices. There will be demonstrations from the police canine unit, SWAT team, and many more.

All students will be provided with an official Westfield Police Youth Academy uniform to wear during the course. Upon successful completion of the program, students will participate in a graduation ceremony and receive a certificate of completion.

Students will have to get their own transportation to and from the John H. Stamler Police Academy in Scotch Plains.
