Members of the church’s women’s groups known as “Circles” gathered in the kitchen of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield at the end of October to bake chocolate chip cookies for the church’s college students.
Representatives from three of the various groups that meet monthly donned aprons that read, “Have you hugged your Presbyterian today?” and then got down to making hundreds of cookies. The downstairs of the church was redolent with the smell of fresh baked Toll House cookies.
“We want our young people to know that we are still thinking of them and pray for them while they are away at school,” Nancy Smith, one of the co-presidents of the organization said.
Each of the thirty college students received two dozen freshly baked cookies that were lovingly wrapped in foil, bundled and shipped out that same morning with a hand-written note from the Presbyterian Women.
