Daughter Found Guilty Of Fatally Stabbing Her Mother In Union County
Malika Jones, 26 of Rahway, was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter in the 2020 stabbing.
RAHWAY, NJ — A Union County woman was found guilty in the fatal stabbing of her mother in 2020, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Rahway Police Director Nicholas Breiner announced Monday.
A Union County jury found Malika Jones, 26 of Rahway, guilty on Friday of aggravated manslaughter following a three-week trial before Union County Superior Court Judge Thomas Isenhour. The jury deliberated for a day and a half before returning its verdict.
The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2020, when Rahway Police Department went to a home on the 100 block of East Albert Street, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Grady, who prosecuted the case.

Officers found the victim, Inell Jones, 58, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Jones was immediately taken into custody.
A joint investigation by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, Rahway Police Department, and the Union County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit resulted in charges being filed against Jones within hours of law enforcement learning of the incident.

Sentencing for this case has been scheduled for Jan. 26, 2024 before Judge Thomas Isenhour.
