Driver Charged With DWI, Aggravated Assault On Westfield Police Officer
Westfield Police also reported a car was broken into and a purse was stolen while at Tamaques Park.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A Union County woman was charged for driving while intoxicated and aggravated assault on a Westfield Police Officer following a crash on Friday.
On June 14 at 2:14 a.m., Sergeant Gill, Officer Martinez, Officer Marlow, Officer Picciano, Officer Barham, and Officer Donovan were called to the area of South Avenue West by Cumberland Street on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.
Multiple 911 callers stated that a vehicle had hit a parked vehicle and a utility pole.

Pursuant to the officer’s investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Crystal Beverly, 35, Elizabeth, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Additionally, she was also charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing the administration of law.

Beverly was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters where she was processed, issued summonses and given a Union County Superior Court Date. She was later turned over to a sober adult.

On June 9 at 12:55 p.m.: Patricia Zanfini, 65, Springfield, of was arrested for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle investigation in the 100 block of Elm Street. She was released with a mandatory Westfield Municipal Court date.
On June 10 at 2:40 p.m.: A bag containing three bowling balls, two pairs of bowling shoes, and a wrist guard was located after being left on the roadway in the 800 block of W. South AvenueThe items were secured at WPD Headquarters for safekeeping.
On June 11 at 3 p.m.: An anonymous person turned a necklace with a stone embedded in it over to the Westfield Police Department after finding it in the area of the 200 block of East Broad Street. The item was secured at WPD Headquarters.
On June 13 at 12:30 p.m.: A resident reports being a victim of criminal mischief that led to theft from their vehicle at Tamaques Park. The vehicle was parked and unlocked during the incident. The victim reported seeing a broken front window. It is apparent that an unknown actor broke the window and then committed a burglary to the motor vehicle, stealing a purse from inside the victim's vehicle. The approximate value of the purse and its contents is $250. The cost to repair the broken window is unknown at the time of this report.
