Driver With Loaded Gun Stopped By Westfield Cops On New Year's Eve: PD

The Westfield Police released the most recent blotter:

WESTFIELD, NJ — A driver with a loaded gun, who was stopped by Westfield police on New Year's Eve, was among the blotter items recently released.

Westfield Police Blotter from Dec. 31, 2023, to Jan. 6, 2024:

On Dec. 31 at 12:11 a.m.: Officer Weiss and Officer Riley conducted a motor vehicle stop of a BMW, silver in color, bearing a Georgia registration at W. South Avenue and Tuttle Parkway. Pursuant to their investigation, the driver, Abdura Kearney, 31, Plainfield, was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a weapon, a loaded handgun. Subsequently, Kearney was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters where she was processed and committed to the Union County Jail.

On Dec. 31 at 2:08 p.m.: The manager for a property in the 500 block of W. South Ave. reports items stolen from the building. One item valued at $40 was stolen by the actor on first floor of the building and another item valued at $20 was stolen from a different floor of the building. The total value of stolen items is about $60.

On Jan. 2 at 8:28 p.m.: Westfield Police Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 400 block of E. North Avenue and found the driver, Michael Jones, 26, Jersey City, to have an outstanding traffic warrant out of Florham Park Municipal Court for $2,500. Jones was released on his own recognizance after being processed at Westfield Police Headquarters.

On Jan. 4 at 6:30 a.m.: The resident at the 800 block of Highland Avenue reported he saw surveillance footage of actors burglarizing their home. Upon learning of the burglary, the resident contacted the Westfield Police Department. The actors committed criminal mischief when they used a pry tool to open a locked window of the attached garage. The actors then entered the garage and subsequently entered a parked motor vehicle in the garage. The actors then stole $300 in cash from the glove box of the vehicle as well as the keys to the vehicle. The actors then left the property without stealing the vehicle in question.

On Jan. 6 at 5:19 p.m.: A business in the 200 block of E. North Avenue reported a shoplifting incident near the 200 block of East North Avenue. Specifically, Ali M. Marshall, 41, Newark, was arrested and charged by Westfield Police Officers for shoplifting following a police investigation. The suspect was found to have multiple warrants from multiple jurisdictions. He was subsequently released on a summons and released on his own recognizance regarding his warrants.
