DWI Arrests, Attempted Motor Vehicle Thefts Reported In Westfield
Westfield Police released its blotter for the past week.
WESTFIELD, NJ — The latest Westfield Police blotter including arrests for driving while intoxicated along with attempted motor vehicle thefts.
Westfield Police Blotter – March 30 April 5:
On March 31 at 1:09 p.m.: A resident of Sunnywood Drive reported that, between 12 and 7:45 a.m. on March 21, an unknown person entered their 2021 Porsche parked in their driveway. The vehicle appeared as though the suspect had tried to start it, but with no key fob present, the attempted motor vehicle theft was thwarted. $120 in cash was taken from the interior.

On April 1 at 2:13 p.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of Prospect Street on a report of a motor vehicle collision. A roadside investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver of the vehicle, Brianna Cho, 24, of Westfield, for driving under the influence. Cho was placed under arrest, taken to Westfield Police Headquarters and released to a responsible adult with summonses and a mandatory Westfield Municipal Court date.
On April 2 at 11:08 p.m.: Moses Karanoub, 22, Plainfield, was placed under arrest for obstructing administration of law in the area of the 900 block of West South Avenue following a motor vehicle stop. Karanoub was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed and released with a mandatory Westfield Municipal Court date.

On April 4 at 8 a.m.: Jonathan Faggins, 64, Westfield, was placed under arrest for DWI pursuant to an investigation in the 700 block of W. Broad St. He was processed and released on a summons with a future court date.
On April 5 at 10:09 a.m.: A Cowperthwaite Place resident reported that their vehicle was broken into sometime overnight on April 5. The suspect/s proceeded to break the rear passenger side window of the vehicle, gain entry and damage the ignition and steering column. According to the resident, no items were removed from the vehicle.
On April 5 at 10:39 a.m.: During an investigation, an officer discovered a motor vehicle parked in the 300 block of Elm Street with its rear passenger-side window shattered, indicative of criminal activity. Upon speaking with the vehicle's owner, it was revealed that the car had been parked on the roadway overnight on April 5, when the damage occurred. As of the time the report was filed, it remained unclear whether any items had been stolen from the vehicle.
