DWI Driver Charged In Serious Crash In Union County: Police
Both drivers are hospitalized following the crash on Tuesday night.
LINDEN, NJ - A driver was charged with driving while intoxicated following a serious crash on Tuesday night in Linden, said police.
On Tuesday, April 25 at around 7 p.m., Officers went to the intersection of Interstate 278 W and Morses Mill Road on reports of a serious motor vehicle crash.
According to preliminary reports, a 2020 Nissan Altima was driving west on I-278 when it hit a 1999 Buick Lesabre that was crossing the intersection from the left turn lane exiting I-278 at Morses Mill Rd., said Linden Police Captain Christopher Guenther.

The driver of the Buick, a 56-year-old man from Long Island, was seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the Nissan, identified as Wesley Davis, 45, of Avenel, also sustained serious injuries in the crash, said Guenther.
Both drivers were taken to Newark University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Davis was later arrested and is charged with driving while intoxicated, said Guenther.
The traffic signal at the intersection was damaged during the crash. Traffic was impacted for several hours, but all lanes have since been reopened.
