Firefighters Injured, 27 Displaced In 4th Alarm Fire At Union County Apartment Complex
The fourth-alarm fire broke out on Sunday afternoon prompting fire departments from all over Union County to respond.
ROSELLE PARK, NJ — Firefighters were injured on Sunday battling a large apartment complex fire in Roselle Park.
Just after 11 a.m., the Roselle Park Fire Department went to an active structure fire reported in one of the buildings at the Sunrise Village Apartment complex on Jerome Street in Roselle Park.
"It is believed that the fire spread from a refuse storage area vertically to the attic and then the roof," said Roselle Park Police Chief Dominick Frino.

The fire then spread to a second building connected by the roof structure. The roof of both buildings became fully involved, triggering the call for a fourth alarm.
Both buildings were evacuated with the help of the Roselle Park Police Department and county mutual aid partners.

The Casano Community Center was opened, activated, and staffed as a temporary intake and mustering center with the Red Cross.
The American Red Cross provided emergency assistance to 13 families (27 people) for things like temporary lodging, food, clothing and other immediate needs, said Red Cross New Jersey.
The fire was extinguished with minor injuries to firefighters, said Frino.
"The Borough commends the exceptional work of the Roselle Park Fire Department and its counterparts across the county for containing and neutralizing this multialarm blaze," said Frino.
The building structures sustained heavy damage. Due to the extent of the damage, the Roselle Park Department of Code Enforcement deemed the structures unsuitable for habitation.
Right now, donations are not being sought while the Borough and Red Cross continue to collaborate on collective need.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
