Four Westfield High Students Named Finalists in National Merit Scholarship Program

About 1 percent of students who take the Preliminary SAT test qualifies as National Merit semi-finalists and eventually named finalists

Westfield, NJ -- Four seniors at Westfield High School were have advanced to Finalist standing in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship program.

Ryan Q. Dang, Sarah N. Steiner, Nova L. Qi, and Albert A. Chen were were congratulated by Westfield High School Assistant Principal Derrick Nelson.

The Westfield Board of Education recently presented certificates to the students, who at the time were named Semi-Finalists.

Approximately one percent of students who take the Preliminary SAT test qualifies as National Merit semi-finalists and eventually receives the finalist status. They are the highest scoring entrants and are eligible to apply for National Merit scholarships.

The program honors students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
