Fraud, Criminal Mischief, Warrant Arrests Reported In Westfield
Westfield Police recently released its blotter for the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Fraud, criminal mischief, and warrant arrests were reported in the latest police blotter.
Westfield Police Blotter – Jan. 5 to 11:
On Jan. 6 at 1:59 a.m.: A resident of the 600 block of Fairmont Avenue reported that they were the victim of fraudulent charges to a credit card account. The resident states that someone made fraudulent charges without his approval or authorization. The resident reports there were multiple separate incidents of fraudulent charges. The resident stated that after the fraudulent charges occurred, they took the appropriate reporting actions. At this time, the resident has suffered no financial loss.

On Jan. 7 at 12:28 a.m.: Carlos Torresperlaza, 27, of Plainfield was placed under arrest on the strength of a New Brunswick Municipal Contempt of Court Warrant for $1,000 after a motor vehicle stop on West South Avenue, near Crossway Place. Torresperlaza was processed and later turned over to the New Brunswick Police Department.
On Jan. 9 at 11:22 a.m.: A resident of Settlers Lane reported being a victim of fraud. According to the victim, he received a pop-up notification on his laptop stating his Wells Fargo financial account was locked and needed immediate attention. The victim proceeded to contact the provided number claiming to be Wells Fargo support. The victim was then asked to transfer a large sum of money to another Wells Fargo account provided by the individual claiming to be a Wells Fargo employee. After further speaking to the individual and providing some personal pedigree, the victim realized he was being scammed. The victim did not suffer any monetary loss.

On Jan. 9 at 6:46 p.m.: Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop near the 400 block of West South Avenue. At that time, David Hector Jr., 32, Roselle, was released on his own recognizance for an outstanding ATS warrant for $250 issued by the Roselle Municipal Court.
On Jan. 10 at 12:57 p.m.: A patron of a business on the 1000 block of West South Avenue was the victim of fraud. The victim was contacted by unknown suspects claiming to be from one of their utilities and demanded $1,000. The victim responded to a business in the 1000 block of West South Avenue and made two $500 cash payments to a bar code that was texted to her.
On Jan. 11 at 12:35 p.m.: A vehicle was purposely damaged in the 400 block of East Broad Street.
