Gun Shots Fired, Bullets Hit Union County Home: Police

A Fanwood man was charged after police say he fired a handgun in the area of South Martine Avenue where bullets entered a home.

FANWOOD, NJ — Reports of gunshots fired and the discovery of bullets entering a home have led to charged against a Fanwood man, said police.

On July 4 at around 9:30 p.m., Fanwood Police went to a residence on South Martine Avenue on the report of gunshots being heard in the area.

Multiple bullet fragments were found to have entered the victim’s home from the outside, said Fanwood Police.

Following an investigation, police arrested Stevie Williams, 63, of Fanwood, for possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, a second-degree crime, among other charges.

"It is alleged that Williams fired a handgun in the area of the victim’s house," said police.

Williams was processed at the Fanwood Police Department and then taken to the Union County Jail where he awaits a first appearance.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office helped during the investigation.

"There is no danger to the community at this time," said police.
