Daytime Shooting Leads To Attempted Murder Charges In Union County

LINDEN, NJ — A week-long investigation following a daytime shooting in Linden has led to the arrest of a man, said police on Monday, May 15.

Michael Yensi, 28, of Linden was arrested by the Linden Police Detective Bureau near his home on May 11 without incident, said police.

On Thursday, May 4, at about 4 p.m., a shooting was reported in the area of the 10 block of N. Wood Avenue.

Police officers found a 26-year-old Linden resident who suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was treated on scene and taken to Newark University Hospital by Linden Fire Department personnel, said police.

Yensi is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, and
associated weapons charges. He was taken to the Union County Jail pending a scheduled
appearance in Superior Court.
