Lord & Taylor Locking Down Westfield Parking Lots

Commuters and shoppers have been told to make other arrangements for parking in a letter. Town responds with new options.

WESTFIELD, NJ - As of Friday, those who were using the Lord & Taylor employee parking lots have been informed they have to make other arrangements. In a letter left on the cars in the lot and submitted to the town the retail outlet noted that they will be enforcing parking rules in their two lots that are intended strictly for their employees.

Both lots are located across from the store, on opposite sides of Clark Street. The letter said that the lots will remained locked.

On their Facebook page, the town of Westfield posted reminders for residents without annual permits of their commuter parking options:

  • Daily hangtag permits are sold to Westfield residents on a first-come, first-served basis by an officer that arrives at Lot 3 (South Ave station) promptly at 6:30 a.m. and remains until the hang tags are sold out (this time of year, as early as 6:45-7:00 a.m.). If the daily hangtags are sold out, the officer will turn on their overhead lights and remain in the lot for about 15 minutes afterwards in order to direct patrons to numbered spaces.
  • Please have proof of residency ready for the officer.
  • 12-hour numbered spaces are available in Lot 3, as well as in Lot 6 and on Watterson Street.

Beginning Monday, in an effort to provide more options as the Lord & Taylor lots become restricted, Westfield will sell a limited amount of daily hangtags for Lot 6, located on Watterson Street. These daily permits will be a different color and marked for Lot 6 only. They will be sold in Lot 3, for the same amount of $5 to Westfield residents only, once the Lot 3 daily hangtags are sold out.

The post noted the number of available daily permits will be lessened in the event of accumulating snow that limits parking spaces.
