Man Arrested For Breaking Into USPS Mailbox At Clark Townhall: Police

CLARK, NJ — A Queens, New York man was arrested after police say he breaking into a USPS mailbox at Clark Townhall.

Damion D. McPhaul, 23, of Queens (Ozone Park), NY, was charged with one count of fourth-degree obstruction the administration of law, one count of fourth-degree resisting arrest, one count of third-degree theft of moveable property, and one count of burglary tools(a disorderly persons offense).

On Aug. 30 at around 4:11 a.m., Clark Police Officers were called to 430 Westfield Ave.(Townhall) on a report that there was an adult man breaking into the USPS mailbox on Clark Township property.

Officers quickly converged in the area and found the man, later identified as McPhaul, in the area of Dawn Drive.

When McPhaul saw the Officers he ran away. After a brief foot chase, McPhaul was apprehended and arrested, said police.

During the investigation, Clark Officers found a red 2024 Hyundai Elantra with Florida registration. It was determined McPhaul was in possession of this car, said Clark Police.

McPhaul was taken to the Union County Correctional Jail pending a court hearing.
