Man Arrested After Kidnapping, Raping Child In Union County: Cops

UNION, NJ — A Union man was arrested after being accused of kidnapping and raping a child, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Union Police Director Christopher Donnelly announced Monday.

Solomon Blay, 41, has been charged with one count of first-degree kidnapping by unlawful confinement, one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

The charges stem from a referral to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit from the Union Police Department.

Blay was arrested on May 8, in Newark and is currently being held in the Essex County Jail pending his detention hearing on May 14.
