Man Charged With Aggravated Assault On Westfield Cop: Blotter
The Westfield Police released its blotter for the past week.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A Westfield man was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer last week.
On Feb. 16 at 6:16 p.m., Westfield Police Officers went to the area of 200 East South Avenue on a report of a disorderly person inside a business.
Officers encountered the suspect, later identified as Ronald Posyton III, 29, of Westfield, according to the police blotter.

During their investigation, Posyton was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
He was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed and later released with a summons and a Union County Superior Court date.

Westfield Police Blotter – Feb. 16 to Feb. 22:
On Feb. 16 at 8 a.m.: A resident from the 300 block of Belmar Place reported that their vehicle was burglarized overnight. According to the resident, someone entered their unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway and removed items worth around $1,050.
On Feb. 16 at 9:16 p.m.: Westfield Police Officers were dispatched to the area of North Cottage Place by Tice Place for a reported attempted burglary to a motor vehicle. The resident stated that at around 8:54 p.m., an unknown person tried to pull on the door handle of his vehicle that was parked in his driveway. At the time of this incident, the vehicle was locked and secured. Additionally, the owner stated that there were no valuables inside the vehicle.
On Feb. 16 at 10:40 p.m.: A patron of a local business in the 100 block of E. Broad Street reported the theft of his wallet from his jacket pocket while his jacket was left unattended. The wallet was later recovered in the area with contents missing. The victim's credit card was then fraudulently used following this initial incident.
On Feb. 17 at 3:22 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the area of 200 East North Avenue on a report of a shoplifting that just occurred. Officers quickly found the suspect, later identified as Pedro Santiago, 30, of Woodbridge, at the Southside Train Station. Subsequently, Santiago was placed under arrest for shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. Santiago also had active, outstanding warrants issued by the Middlesex County Prosecutor - No Bail, and issued by the Elizabeth Police Department - No Bail. Santiago was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and turned over to the Elizabeth Police Department.
On Feb. 18 at 8:50 a.m.: A resident in the 500 block of Clifton Street reported that his motor vehicle was burglarized sometime between Feb. 13 and Feb. 17. According to the resident, no items were missing from the vehicle, however, he did notice that the front windshield was damaged. At the time of the incident, the resident was unsure if the vehicle was locked or unlocked.
On Feb. 18 at 2:23 p.m.: Officers Marlow and Riley found a stolen vehicle, a 2022 Honda HRV, out of Hillside after being contacted by Hillside Police Department. After speaking with the driver of the stolen vehicle and Hillside Police Department, it was determined that this vehicle was fraudulently purchased by a separate party, at Route 22 Auto in Hillside, and then sold to him for $12,000 (in cash) after a Facebook Marketplace post.
