Pair Sentenced In Union County Double Shooting That Killed 1
As a result of the shooting in 2021, one woman from Pennsylvania died, and another person survived but was permanently paralyzed.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — Two men from Plainfield were each given a lengthy sentence in state prison for a double shooting in which one person died and another was permanently paralyzed in 2021, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Plainfield Police Director James Abney announced Tuesday.
On Oct. 31, 2023, Jahaad Ingram, 23, and Zaire Wallace, 30, were found guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose before Union County Superior Court Judge John Deitch.
On Jan. 12, 2024, Deitch sentenced Ingram and Wallace to an aggregate sentence of 78 years in State Prison, requiring each to serve at least 85 percent of the term before the possibility of parole.

At around 1:55 p.m. on July 9, 2021, a 911 call reported shots-fired at the intersection of Rock Avenue and West Front where Plainfield Police they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Jennifer Vorn, 24, of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim ultimately survived the gun shot injuries but was permanently paralyzed, according to Assistant Prosecutors Christopher Desimone and Melissa Caparruva, who prosecuted the case.

Daniel commends the steadfast efforts of the prosecution team, including Assistant Prosecutors Christopher Desimone and Melissa Caparruva, Sergeant Lamar Hartsfield, Detectives Sonia Rodriguez and Ryan Kirsh, as well as the members of Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Plainfield Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
"I hope this sentence can provide some assurance to the victims’ loved ones, as well as the community, that we will not tolerate these egregious offenses and will expend all of our efforts to bring the offenders to justice," said Daniel.
