Photo Gallery: Armory Changes Command and Retires the Colors

Crystal takes command while the 117th's colors are retired.

The Armory was the site of a traditional military ceremony Saturday, as command of the Armory changed and the units housed there changed hands as well.

The National Guard officially transfered command of the Armory from Lt. Col. Dean Spenzos to Lt. Col. Ed Chrystal during the ceremony. Chrystal has participated in past Armory events including last month's welcome home parade and celebration.

Following the change of command, the colors of the 117th Cavalry were retired as the colors of the 102nd Cavalry were unfurled giving the new cavalry responsibility for the Armory. The ceremony was attended by members of the 117th Cavalry Association, which organizes a museum in their suite on the Armory's second floor.
