Quimby Street To Become World Cup Watch Party In Westfield

Fans will gather downtown to watch Team USA's match against Paraguay.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Quimby Street will be transformed into an outdoor World Cup watch party next week as soccer fans gather in downtown Westfield to cheer on Team USA.

The free event is scheduled for Friday, June 12, when Team USA takes on Paraguay. Festivities begin at 8 p.m., with kickoff set for 9 p.m.

Multiple viewing screens will be set up along Quimby Street, creating a downtown gathering spot for residents, families, and visitors looking to watch the match together.

The evening will also feature a performance by the Westfield High School Blue Devil Steel Band, along with fan activities, a photo booth, and patriotic giveaways while supplies last.

With World Cup excitement growing across the country, organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together while showcasing downtown Westfield's restaurants and businesses.

"We're excited to bring the community together for a fun night of cheering on Team USA while supporting our downtown businesses," said Daniel Taugher, executive director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation. "As we celebrate America 250, this event is a great opportunity to connect with friends, neighbors, and visitors while showing national pride and enjoying everything Downtown Westfield has to offer."

Fans are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue and arrive early to grab dinner or drinks from one of the many downtown restaurants before kickoff.

"The World Cup creates a unique sense of excitement and pride, and we're thrilled to have families, friends, and soccer fans gather together to cheer on Team USA," said Kristina Haag, vice president of communications for the Westfield Soccer Association. "Soccer has a remarkable ability to connect people across generations and backgrounds, and we look forward to celebrating that spirit together while creating an experience our kids will remember for years to come."

The event is free to attend, with limited seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
