Shoplifting, DWI, Lewdness, Fraud Reported In Westfield
Westfield Police released the blotter for the past week.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Shoplifting, fraud, a DWI arrest, and a lewdness arrest were all reported recently in Westfield.
Westfield Police Blotter – Jan. 14 to Jan. 20:
On Jan. 14 at 5:54 p.m.: A resident turned in found property to Westfield Police Headquarters. Specifically, a silver colored necklace that was located on the ground in the area of Elm Street and Quimby Street. This property will remain at Westfield Police Headquarters for safekeeping.

On Jan. 14 at 6:36 p.m.: A local business in the area of Elm Street and Quimby Street reported a theft of merchandise by two unknown actors. The suspects are described as juvenile boys, one of which was a light-skin black or Hispanic boy, 5'10", slim build, scruffy appearance with tight hair curls, black puffy jacket and gray Adidas track pants. The second individual was a light-skin black or Hispanic boy, 5'2"-5'4", loose curls and facial hair, with a hood obscuring his head, black puffy jacket and black Adidas track pants. The business reported a loss of $180 as a result of this incident.
On Jan. 14 at 7:37 p.m.: Officer Marlow and Officer Picciano responded to the 100 block of Mountain Avenue for a welfare check. Pursuant to their investigation, Keri Fitzgerald, 41, of Westfield, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to Westfield Police Headquarters without incident. At Headquarters she was processed and released to a sober adult with a pending Westfield Municipal Court date.

On Jan. 16 at 10:29 a.m.: A resident of the 600 block of Carleton Road reported unauthorized credit card use. The resident reported they received a package from Amazon on Jan. 14 which they did not order. The resident then stated there was an unauthorized charge on one of their credit cards for the purchase. There were no other charges at this time on the credit card or any suspects observed attempting to retrieve the package.
On Jan. 19 at 4:25 a.m.: Officers Scanlon and Bagan arrested Edwin Martinez, 36, Green Brook, on the strength of an outstanding confirmed ATS warrant out of Union Municipal Court totaling $850. Martinez was placed under arrest and taken to Westfield Police Headquarters. He was then processed and released on his own recognizance with a new court date.
On Jan. 21 at 9:12 p.m.: Officer Picciano and Officer Fourre arrested Rideef Scruggs, 37, East Orange, for an act of lewdness after an investigation in the 500 block of Springfield Avenue. Scruggs was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, processed and released on a summons with a Westfield Municipal Court date.
