Sticky Substance On Mailboxes, Fraud, Theft Reported In Westfield
Westfield Police released its blotter for incidents over the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A sticky substance found on mailboxes, fraud, theft, and a warrant arrest were reported recently in Westfield.
Westfield Police Blotter – Sept. 8 to Sept. 14:
On Sept. 9 at 10:07 p.m.: Michael Soyka Jr., 20, Colonia, was placed under arrest on the strength of an active NCIC warrant pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue, near Washington Street. Soyka Jr. was processed and later turned over to the New Jersey State Police, who committed him to the Burlington County Jail.

On Sept. 11 at 11:38 a.m.: An individual reported an adhesive substance on three Unite States Postal Office mailboxes. These three mailboxes were located outside on the 100 block of Central Avenue and on the 200 block of Lenox Avenue. The adhesive did not damage the three mailboxes which were cleaned of the substance once a report was generated.
On Sept. 12 at 9 a.m.: A resident of Cowperthwaite Square reported fraudulent activity on her credit card. An unknown person tried to make a purchase using her credit card at a Wawa in Toms River.

On Sept. 12 at 11 a.m.: A resident of the 600 block of Drake Place reported the theft of their wallet from their purse which was located inside their vehicle. This theft occurred between the hours of 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 12 either in Manhattan, NY or while the victim's vehicle was parked in Westfield.
On Sept. 12 at 7:39 p.m.: A theft of an E-Bike battery was reported to the Westfield Police Department. The E-Bike was left secured to a bicycle rack located in the Westfield South Side Train Station Lot on Sept. 11 at around 10:30 p.m. The owner arrived back at the E-Bike's location on Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. The owner reports observing damage to the seat and the E-Bike's battery to be missing. The battery is valued at around $540. The value of the damaged seat is reported to be around $50.
