Stolen Jewelry, Credit Card Fraud Reported In Westfield

Westfield Police released its latest blotter.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Stolen jewelry, credit card fraud, a warrant arrest are among the items in the latest Westfield Police blotter.

Westfield Police Blotter – June 16 to June 22:

On June 18 at 8:45 a.m.: An unknown suspect described as a Caucasian man of thin build, brown hair, a red hat, and around 5'10" stole a tip jar from a kiosk in the South Side Train Station Parking Lot. The operator of the kiosk stated there was only about $5 in the jar at the time.

On June 18 at 9 p.m.: A resident from the 1100 block of Boynton Avenue reported items stolen/missing from her residence. According to the resident, sometime between May 31 and June 18, three pieces of jewelry were stolen/missing from inside the residence. The total value of stolen/missing items is approximately $2,300.

On June 19 at 8 a.m.: A resident of the 900 block of Lawrence Avenue reported being the victim of credit card fraud. The victim reports that an unknown person(s) made an unauthorized transaction using his credit card account to purchase around $7,400 worth of miscellaneous items from a "Vape and Smoke Shop" Distributor. The distributor was located in Roseland. At this time the victim is at a monetary loss until further investigation.

On June 19 at 10:45 a.m.: A resident of the 1700 block of Boulevard was approached by what they described as a large white man with a heavy Irish accent. The subject offered to perform roofing work on the owner's home and without permission placed a ladder on the side of the home and accessed the roof before demanding a $2,500 down payment in cash.

On June 20 at 12:17 p.m.: Santiago Clavijo, 29, Union, was detained after a motor vehicle stop on W. Broad Street and Lamberts Mill Road. Clavijo was detained roadside for an outstanding traffic warrant out of Elizabeth Municipal Court for $750. Clavijo was released on scene with a new Elizabeth Municipal Court date pending.

On June 20 at 1 p.m.: Westfield Police Department personnel responded to Scudder Road for a property theft incident. Specifically, the victim reported that numerous pieces of jewelry were removed from their residence by moving company personnel during the course of moving the victim's belongings. The missing jewelry is valued at around $2,600.
