Surprise: Addams Tavern Has Re-opened In Westfield

The mayor said this week, the owners said soon but Downtown Westfield has announced the popular eatery was open for business Thursday.

WESTFIELD, NJ - Nearly a year from since the Addams Tavern shuttered its doors in order to undergo renovations required by the landlord the popular Westfield eatery was open for business Thursday.

No firm date had been decided upon, but as part of her Mayor's Report for the Tuesday meeting of the Westfield Mayor and Council, Shelley Brindle confirmed the long-awaited opening was coming soon.

"Addams Tavern is re-opening this week, just in time for the holidays," Brindle said.

On Dec. 3, Superior Court Judge Katherine Dupuis ruled to allow the restaurant to reopen, pending the issuance of a certificate of occupancy. According to officials, the building still has to finish some handicap accessible modifications, but it would not preclude the restaurant from opening.
