Thefts, Fraud, Warrant Arrest Reported In Westfield

The Westfield Police released its blotter for the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Thefts of a bike and exhaust pipe, fraud, and a warrant arrest were reported within the last week in Westfield.

Westfield Police Blotter – March 9 to March 15:

On March 9 at 10:11 a.m.: A resident of Lopatcong reported being a victim of theft while visiting Westfield. The victim stated that his vehicle was parked in the 400 block of West North Avenue, when someone stole his rear exhaust pipe. The theft occurred during the overnight hours between March 8 and 9. The owner estimated the value of the stolen property to be around $500.

On March 9 at 3 p.m.: Officers McCarthy and Marlow arrested Jordan Cunalata-Tomala, 25, of Plainfield, on two, no-bail, NCIC warrants, subsequent to a motor vehicle stop at Lawrence Avenue and Barchester Way following a license plate reader hit for a wanted person. The warrants were from Bloomfield Municipal Court and Bensalem (PA) Municipal Court. Cunalata-Tomala was processed and subsequently turned over to Bloomfield Police Department

On March 12 at 6:35 p.m.: A resident of the 700 block of Belvidere Avenue reported that she was contacted by Citibank Fraud Department and was advised of several charges made against her Citi Diamond Preferred credit totaling $627.21. Upon learning of the fraudulent activity, the card was immediately canceled.

On March 14 at 7 p.m.: A resident reported an incident of theft. According to the resident, his bicycle was stolen from the bike rack located at Roosevelt Intermediate School. The bicycle is described as a purple "Trek" brand mountain bike. The owner estimated value of the stolen property is around $600.
