Trick-Or-Treaters Stole Political Signs In Westfield: Blotter
The Westfield Police released its latest blotter for the past week.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Stolen political signs, fraud, shoplifting were reported in Westfield this past week.
Westfield Police Blotter – Oct. 27 to Nov. 2:
On Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.: Officer Taha conducted a motor vehicle stop in Springfield Avenue and East Broad Street after receiving an alert for an active warrant for the vehicle's registered owner from a random license plate inquiry. Watchung Municipal Court issued the warrant for $550. Shortly after that, the driver and registered owner of the vehicle Jeremiah Lynch, 26, Linden was released on his own recognizance and was given a new court date.

On Oct. 28 at 5 p.m.: A resident of the 900 block of Summit Avenue reported an incident of fraud. Specifically, the victim reported that an unknown person contacted her over the phone regarding her Medicare information. The unknown person asked the victim to provide her personal information, as well as her banking information. After providing some personal information, the victim became suspicious and ended the phone call.
On Oct. 29 at 1:30 a.m.: A resident reported a suspicious incident in the area of the 700 block of Saunders Avenue. Specifically, the resident reported seeing a bright light in the area of their driveway where their two high-end vehicles were parked. The resident further stated that the motion light at the front of their residence was also activated during this incident.

On Oct. 30 at 2:15 p.m.: A business owner on the 0-100 block of Elm Street reported that an unknown person described as a white female, appearing to be in her early 60s, with brown hair, wearing a bright blue top, black pants, and carrying a very large bag with ghosts printed on it, shoplifted around $150 worth of goods about a half hour earlier. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful.
On Oct. 30 at 2:57 p.m.: A resident of the 1700 block of Dakota Street reported being the victim of identity theft. He stated an unknown person had tried to change personal information to the victim's credit card profiles in what was believed to be an attempt to obtain fraudulent cards.
On Oct. 31 at 5:30 p.m.: Iyonah Fard, 30, Newark, was arrested pursuant to a motor vehicle stop that revealed an active warrant near the intersection of East Broad Street and South Chestnut Street. She was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters where she was processed and later turned over to the custody of the City of Orange Police Department.
On Oct. 31 at 6:52 p.m.: A patron of a restaurant on the 0-100 block of Elm Street reported being the victim of theft and fraud. While dining, the victim's wallet was stolen by an unknown person and a fraudulent charge of $1,105.81 was then made at a Target store with the victim's credit card.
On Nov. 1 at 8:46 a.m.: A resident of the 200 block of Lynn Lane reported that an unknown person tried to make a $589.50 purchase fraudulently with their credit card. The transaction was attempted to be used on the Xbox gaming platform but was declined.
On Nov. 1 at 3:10 p.m.: A resident of Settlers Lane reported an unknown person tried to apply for a loan in their name. The application was not processed, but the victim's bank account information was found to have been leaked.
On Nov. 1 at 9:44 p.m.: A resident of the 800 block of Prospect Street reported that two trick-or-treating juveniles removed political signs from her front yard. The signs were valued at $25 each.
