Union Co. Man Sentenced For Fatally Shooting Amazon Driver

PLAINFIELD, NJ — A Plainfield man was sentenced for the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Amazon delivery driver, Jamar Harris of Newark, in 2021, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel announced Friday.

Quahif Lane, 28, was sentenced to 25 years in State Prison for aggravated manslaughter by Union County Superior Court Judge Stacy K. Boretz. Lane must serve at least 85 percent of that sentence before being eligible for parole.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Plainfield Police went to the 200 block of Garfield Avenue in Plainfield and found Harris with a fatal gunshot wound, according to Assistant Prosecutor Chris Desimone, who prosecuted the case. Read More: Amazon Driver Killed, Plainfield Man Charged In Shooting

Harris was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

A video showed Harris was making a delivery when he was approached by Lane, with the fatal attack taking place just outside the delivery van, according to authorities.

Daniel commends the steadfast efforts of Assistant Prosecutor Chris Desimone, Sergeant Lamar Hartsfield, Detective Angela Concepcion, and Plainfield Police Sergeant Thomas Collinaat for their hard work on this case.

"I also thank all involved law enforcement agencies and concerned citizens whose contributions were essential to the expeditious apprehension of Mr. Lane," Daniel said. "Our thoughts are with Mr. Harris’ family and loved ones."
