“It’s pretty specialized the type of work I do,” Wallitsch said. “I found Westfield was a better location since there are more people that are more open to this specialized form of exercise.”

Wallitsch fell in love with this unique form of exercise when she moved from New York to North Plainfield.

She had become a Pilates instructor before discovering Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis.

This form of exercise was created by Juliu Horvath, a professional Russian dancer who was looking to offer a form of exercise for dancers.

Gyrotonic and GyroKinesis are essentially a mix of yoga, Tai Chi, dance movements and swimming.

Gyrotonic incorporates specialized equipment to help your entire body flow through each movement without any impact to your joints.

Gyrokensis follows the same movements without the use of equipment.

“It’s very therapeutic,” Wallitsch said. “It works with your joints. And it is like yoga when you use your breath with your movement. It focuses on everything from your spine out into each of your limbs.”

The exercise method is good for all ages and fitness levels and can be offered as group classes or personal sessions.

“I have worked with runners, cyclists and dancers,” Wallitsch said. “It really is complimentary and helps the human body keep balance. It’s a beautiful method.”
