Trader Joe's in Westfield is slated to be demolished "sometime today," construction officials say
Westfield, NJ -- The beloved Trader Joe’s in Westfield was slated to begin being torn down around 8 a.m. today but snow fall has pushed back operations.
A construction official on site said the building would be torn down “sometime today.”
The building has been shut down since Jan. 23 after its roof collapsed from the excessive snow brought on by Blizzard Jonas.

The roof collapsed in the middle, causing three exterior walls to buckle into the middle of the building. No one was injured.
A portion of the 100 block of Elm Street is expected to be closed to vehicular traffic as the Trader Joe’s building is torn down, Westfield Police Chief David C. Wayman announced.

Motorists should expect traffic delays in the downtown area and should plan an alternate route.
Trader Joe’s said in statement they will reopen at the location.
