Day 3 of VBC Wow!
Minnows and sharks; hot water and cold; the Good Samaritan and a person in need…we were busy today learning lots of new things on Day 3 of Vacation Bible Camp. The Good Samaritan was a pretty cool story. We learned that in being a good friend and neighbor we might have to be bold. It sometimes can be scary or exciting. We talked about how to be bold in helping others.
The Bible lesson was from Matthew 25:35 where Jesus said, “I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” In Mrs. Nancy Smith’s story time some of us got to dress up to really get into the story. It made us think.
The special place we visited yesterday was Zimbabwe and today it was the UK which we found out stands for the United Kingdom. In the discovery room, we learned that the United Kingdom is right across the ocean from us, but because of the Gulf Stream, its climate is much milder than ours. Mrs. Nancy Testa did an experiment with red colored water (hot) and blue colored water (cold) that showed how the red went to the top of the dish of water while the cold stayed on the bottom level.

We checked out the results of our celery experiment yesterday. The leaves of the stalks of celery drank up the colored water we left it in. It turned the leaves purple or blue. Amazing!
Then we did an experiment with everyday items to make green goo. As we got it all over our hands and arms and then were able to wash it off with water, we were reminded that God makes us nice and clean again when we ask for forgiveness for doing wrong.

Crafts today were sparkley torches for some of us and colorful door hangers for others.
In recreation, Billy (with his nice long hair) had us play minnows and sharks where four of the guys were the sharks. We had to run from one beach towel to another before being tapped on the shoulder by a shark. We also got to do a tossing game with the squishy, wet softballs. They felt good on our hot hands and arms.
The helpers and leaders at VBC made sure we drank plenty of water to do what they called “hydrate.”
Malcolm taught us a few new songs today with arm movements. It’s kind of like playing Simon Says. We're learning about God and making new friends all week long!
