Day 4 of VBC: Righteous!
Where has this week gone? We are on Day 4 already! Today we found out that Jesus forgave Zacchaeus (who was up in a tree) and we learned we should be forgiving as well. In fact, our scripture lesson today was Matthew 7:12 that says, “Therefore, you should treat people in the same way that you want people to treat you.” In Bible story time, we acted out the story with Mrs. Nancy Smith helping the volunteers in costumes. Mrs. Shannon Crooks reviewed the story and then we took portions of the verse that were on hearts, put them together to form the whole verse.
No recreation out of doors today because it was too hot. But our resourceful leaders had great games indoors for us!

As usual, the discovery room was buzzing with experiments and neat things. Mrs. Nancy Testa helped us get a picture in our minds of Australia, the country of the day. “Did you know that Australia is an island, a country and a continent?” she asked. With a rainforest on the outside and a desert on the inside, it sounds pretty cool. We did an experiment of putting one hand in warm water and the other in cold with ice cubes. Then when we put our hands in room temperature water something weird happened. The cold water hand felt warm and the warm water hand felt cold. How does that happen??
We also made rain today. Well, not really, but we saw how it works. Mrs. Nancy took hot water from a tea kettle and poured it in a glass Pyrex dish and covered it with plastic wrap. Then she put ice cubes on top of the plastic. Slowly, the cold and hot coming together made what she called “condensation” and we saw the droplets. Her helper Miss Emily has been assisting her all week long in the discovery room as well as singing with Malcolm in the opening and closing time of VBC.

In crafts, some of us made paper bag platypus puppets while the rest of us created our own art work based on the aboriginal form of dot painting. We’ll take home the rocks and put them in our yards. We hope that they might even glow in the dark since we painted them with neon paint. One of our helpers, Fiona, made her own rock that looked great with a purple flower.
We can’t believe that Vacation Bible Camp is almost over. It went so fast!
We heard today that if we liked camp, we might like to come to COW starting in September. COW?
It’s Church On Wednesdays that’s for babies through 5th grade and their families. I’ve heard that at 5 o'clock there is singing, crafts, games, mission moments and dinner for the whole family. (Check out the Presbyterian Church’s website in September to find out more about it)
